The Rx.com Mod Team has created this Service Play sub-forum in order to supply an area for Rx Service Play Posters to expand upon their posting topics without creating a logjam in the main forum where the three principle threads are maintained..

Posters can track services here if they care to but we will need any trackers to do so in an accurate and civil manner. We did not create this area for posters to ridicule or bash any services..

You can also discuss who is hot and who is not. The general state of the pay for plays industry and any other subject or topic related to service plays.

You can also create individual threads about specific services and discuss them freely but civilly. Again bashing and abusive treatment of any services will not be tolerated.

Please remember, this forum is not here for regular posters who cap their own games to post ther daily plays. Please use our individual sport forums to post your plays. Professional cappers (those that sell plays) must remain in the Site Promotion Forum.

The Rx.com will not tolerate posters that post false records of any services they track. Please be truthful if you decide to track a particular service.

Lastly The Rx Moderators are appealing to you our everyday posters to report any promotional threads or posts that are made by services or individual touts. No links or contact information to an individual service will be allowed. Just the name of the service. Please report any threads or posts that are promotional attempts by services and touts to use this forum to promote themselves..

Posters can easily report a promotional post by using the triangular Report-a-Post Icon at the bottom left of all post boxes. The poster name of any poster who reports a post that is out of line will be kept strictly confidential.

I will leave this thread open for a month to take questions and do my best to answer them. I will check in daily but am off on Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope this additional Service Play Forum will satisfy those posters that would like to widen the scope of topics relating to service plays and the industry in general to have their own threads. Mods will be liberal as possible regarding topics but this forum was specifically created to allow you more freedom to express your ideas regarding service plays and related subject matter. No off topic threads will be allowed.

Thank you, wilheim

Tuesday's Best Mound Matchup
By Covers Staff

Cole Hamels, Philadelphia Phillies vs. Matt Cain, San Francisco Giants

Cole Hamels (12-11, 3.06 ERA)

Hamels has a tough act to follow after Roy Halladay and Roy Oswalt took the hill in the first two games of the series, but those two aces have been a factor in Hamels’ bounce-back season.

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel says Hamels’ work ethic is much better since the two Roys joined the team and that Hamels has also added a cut fastball to his bag of tricks while bumping his velocity up a few clicks as well.

"He's wanted to put to rest that he was anything less than a superstar," Phillies closer Brad Lidge of the 2008 World Series MVP. "And he is a superstar. He worked his butt off this winter to come out this year to prove it, and that's what he's done. If he had anything left that wasn't mature, it's gone now. He's doesn't act anything close to 26."

Hamels came back with a strong regular season after a tough 2009 campaign. He only had 12 wins but set new career-bests in ERA (3.06) and strikeouts (211).

The lefty heads into Tuesday’s game with a 6-3 record and a 3.36 ERA in 11 playoff starts after chucking a five-hit shutout against the Reds on Oct. 10.

Matt Cain (13-11, 3.14 ERA)

Pitching for the San Francisco Giants, Matt Cain knows a lot about pitching in pressure situations. The Giants averaged only 4.03 runs of support for him this year, so he has thrown in some tight games.

He’s expecting another tight, pressure-packed game when he squares off against Hamels on Tuesday.

"You try to take advantage of taking control of the game when you may have guys on base and counts aren't in your favor or whatever," Cain told reporters. "You just try to figure out ways to slow the game down to get back to the pace that you want it to be at to try to get the momentum back on your side instead of the hitter's advantage."

So far that seems to be working for him and if the Giants give him a few runs to work with, he’s lethal. Cain is 11-0 with a 2.35 ERA when San Francisco manages at least three runs while he’s on the hill.

Cain picked up a no-decision in his only playoff start, going 6 2/3 and allowing just a single unearned run in a 5-4 loss to Atlanta in the division series. The 10-day layoff will be the longest he’s pitched with in his career.

Tuesday's Best MLB Bets

Texas Rangers at New York Yankees (-145, 9.5)

No matter what happens in this series, don’t expect to see Vladimir Guerrero anywhere else but the No. 4 spot in Ron Washington’s lineup card.

Vladdy has had his problems at the dish, hitting just .214 with one RBI in the playoffs and has only one hit in the ALCS against the Yankees. What makes it worse is that everybody is pitching around No. 3 hitter Josh Hamilton to get to Guerrero, who hasn’t been able to take advantage. Meanwhile, Nelson Cruz is 11-for-27 with three postseason home runs batting fifth.

"That's the way I ran the lineup all year, and it's going to stay that way," Rangers manager Ron Washington told reporters of Guerrero’s spot in the order. "A guy of Vlad's stature, he's only one swing away from doing damage. He's our No. 4 hitter and he's going to stay that way."

Guerrero hit .300 with 29 home runs and 115 RBIs in the regular season. He’ll be up against Yanks starter A.J. Burnett on Tuesday.

Pick: Texas Rangers

Philadelphia Phillies at San Francisco Giants (+105, 6.5)

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins found his groove at the plate just in time to head back to his old stomping ground.

Rollins grew up in Oakland and will have a big crowd of family and friends on hand after he went 2-for-3 with a walk and a bases-clearing double in Sunday’s 6-1 win over Philadelphia on Sunday.

"That's going to be fun," Rollins told reporters. "I love playing in front of my family, friends and also the fans. They crack on me, I crack back. But it was never in a situation like this. Do they boo me?"

The 2007 NL MVP missed three weeks in September due to a pulled hamstring and still isn’t completely healthy. Before breaking out in Game 2, he had just one hit in 15 trips to the plate in the playoffs and was dropped from his usual leadoff spot to the No. 6 hole in the order.

Pick: Philadelphia Phillies

NHL Betting Preview

CANUCKS (2-2-1) at WILD (1-2-1)

TV: SNET-VAN (HD), FS-N (HD)

Season Series -- The Canucks came away with four victories in the six-game series in 2009-10. This will be the first meeting between the Northwest Division rivals in 2010-11 and marks the third game of the season for Minnesota in North America after beginning the year with back-to-back losses to the Carolina Hurricanes in Helsinki, Finland.

Big Story -- Canucks backup goalie Cory Schneider earned his first win in 22 months on Sunday in a 5-1 verdict over the Carolina Hurricanes. While the decision to sit All-Star goalie Roberto Luongo (1-2-1, 2.46 GAA, .920 save percentage) is never an easy one, coach Alain Vigneault had perhaps an easy call after Luongo was victimized for eight goals in losses to Anaheim and Los Angeles in the previous two games. Schneider, a former first-round pick who spent most of his first three seasons in the American Hockey League, made 32 saves in the victory.

"For me to get a win and get some confidence from my teammates and the coaching staff is big," Schneider told reporters after the game.

Team Scope:

Canucks -- The night of firsts didn't end with Schneider's first start of the season between the pipes on Sunday as Andrew Alberts, Ryan Kesler and Mikael Samuelsson each scored their first goal of the season, and Mason Raymond connected for his first two during the team's 5-1 victory over Carolina. Raymond was moved to right wing against Carolina alongside Daniel and Henrik Sedin on the team's top line. He scored his first of the season on the power play midway through the first and added another off a feed from Daniel Sedin 6:25 into the third, giving Vancouver a 4-1 lead.

Wild -- Minnesota is coming off a 3-2 setback to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday -- the game-winner a shorthanded goal by R.J. Umberger midway through the third period. There was a bit of controversy on the winner after Umberger had jammed at the puck at the far post before pointing at the goal and celebrating with teammates. Following a video review, the referee confirmed that a goal had been scored.

"I don't think it was in," goalie Niklas Backstrom said after the game. "I think it was under my stomach the whole time. I got up, and it went under my pad, and at that point it hadn't crossed the line (before the whistle)."

Coach Todd Richards said his team had no one to blame but themselves: "We got what we deserved," he said during his post-game press conference.

Who's Hot -- The Sedin twins have gotten off to a great start for the Canucks through the opening five games. Center Henrik, who notched two assists on Sunday, has 7 helpers for the season while Daniel has produced 4 goals and 7 points.

Injury Report -- The Wild are without right wing Pierre-Marc Bouchard (post-concussion syndrome), center James Sheppard (broken kneecap) and goalie Josh Harding (torn MCL/ACL). … The Canucks' injury list includes forwards Alexandre Bolduc (ankle sprain) and Alexandre Burrows (shoulder) and defensemen Keith Ballard (concussion) and Sami Salo (Achilles tendon tear).

Stat Pack -- The longest active sellout streak in the NHL ended Saturday when the Wild failed to sell out the first regular-season home game in franchise history (against Columbus), which encompasses 10 seasons. Minnesota had sold out 370 straight regular-season games -- the crowd Saturday was announced at 17,339.

Puck Drop -- Minnesota wing Martin Havlat, who is playing on a line with center Matt Cullen and Cal Clutterbuck, has 3 assists in four games for the Wild. Richards feels it's only a matter of time before he begins putting the puck in the net with regularity.

"I said where he's at this year compared to where he was at last year, he's light years ahead and, 'Don't get frustrated, don't get down about not putting up the points that you want,' " Richards said.

HURRICANES (2-2-0) at SHARKS (1-1-1)

TV: FS-CR (HD), CSN-CA (HD)

Season Series: This is the only meeting of the 2010-11 season between these teams. San Jose won the most recent matchup, 5-1 in Carolina on Nov. 1, 2009. Brandon Sutter opened the scoring for the Hurricanes but it was all Sharks after that, with Patrick Marleau registering a goal and an assist.

Big Story: Two teams that opened the season playing overseas are still feeling their way through the early portion of the schedule. San Jose has played only three games, tied with Boston for the fewest in the NHL entering Tuesday, and Carolina four. In fact, each team will be looking for its first win since returning to North America -- the Sharks lost their home opener to the Thrashers on Saturday while the Hurricanes have dropped road games to the Senators and Canucks.

Team Scope:

Hurricanes: Perhaps starting out in Helsinki was the easy part of Carolina's early-season journey. The Hurricanes built themselves some positive momentum by sweeping a pair of games from the Wild in Finland, but they've found life to be a bit tougher since getting back to the U.S. and embarking on a five-game road trip that currently has them out in California. Even with Roberto Luongo getting the night off in favor of Cory Schneider, goals were tough to come by Sunday night in a 5-1 loss to the Canucks.

"I feel sluggish and we just don't have that jump right now," defenseman Joe Corvo said. "A lot of guys might say they feel all right, but to be honest with you, we've traveled so many miles and lost so much sleep, it's something you don't even know is going on in your body."

Sharks: In uncharacteristic fashion, San Jose not only lost on home ice but blew a two-goal lead against Atlanta. Dany Heatley and Ryane Clowe scored goals 21 seconds apart in the first period to give the Sharks the fast start they were looking for against the Thrashers, but they didn't manage anything else in a 4-2 defeat. New goalie Antti Niemi was beaten by former Blackhawks teammate Dustin Byfuglien for the go-ahead power-play goal with 6:20 remaining.

"He has a great shot," Niemi said. "When he gets the puck he knows how to score. You just have to be ready to make those big saves."

Who's Hot: Patrick O'Sullivan had the Hurricanes' only goal and three shots in nearly 14 minutes of ice time against the Canucks. … Clowe (1-3-4) and Joe Thornton (2-1-3) have points in all three games the Sharks have played.

Injury Report: San Jose forward Jamal Mayers is day-to-day with an arm injury while defenseman Derek Joslin (upper body) is on injured reserve.

Stat Pack: Hurricanes captain Eric Staal leads the team with 17 shots, while Marleau and Joe Pavelski have 12 apiece to pace the Sharks. Putting all that rubber on net hasn't led to goals yet, however: Staal has scored just once, and Marleau and Pavelski are still looking for their first of the season.

Puck Drop: Carolina will have traveled more than 15,000 miles and through 11 time zones before playing its first home game on Oct. 27 against the reigning Presidents' Trophy winner and Southeast Division champion, Washington. It's a grind the players are not necessarily fond of, but they're soldiering on.

"It's pretty ridiculous," Corvo said. "But whatever you got to do to make money."

Tuesday's Best NHL Bets

Vancouver Canucks at Minnesota Wild (+115, 5.5)

Even the greats need a break.

Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo got to put his skates up and relax this past weekend, getting the night off against the Carolina Hurricanes Sunday.

The Canucks rolled to the 5-1 victory behind backup Cory Schneider and are expected to have their No. 1 in net when they face the Wild on the road Tuesday night.

"It's very important," center Ryan Kesler told reporters of the team’s win. "It takes a lot of pressure off of Lui, not to have to start every night."

A rejuvenated Luongo should help Vancouver’s cause with the team playing four of five games on the road during this current stretch. The Canucks are 9-3 in their last 12 meetings with the Wild including a 4-2 record versus Minnesota last season.

Pick: Vancouver Canucks

Carolina Hurricanes at San Jose Sharks (-203, 5.5)

After a long layoff and disappointing home opener, the San Jose Sharks are anxious to get back on the ice. They’ll get that wish against the Carolina Hurricanes at home Tuesday night.

The Sharks, who had a week between games before Saturday’s 4-2 loss to the Atlanta Thrashers, were flat in their home debut, totaling just nine shots in the third period and allowing the Thrashers to score twice for the win.

“It was role-reversal really,” coach Todd McLellan told the San Jose Mercury News. “I thought we’d get better as the night went on but I think exactly the opposite happened. Perhaps things were a little bit too easy for us early in the game and then we weren’t prepared to buckle down and work hard enough to win the game.”

San Jose is 1-1-1 to start the 2010-11 season, mimicking last season’s slow start. Traditionally, the Sharks have had trouble with the Hurricanes, splitting their last six meetings. However, in that span, the home team is 4-2 and owns a 7-2 record in the last nine head-to-head meetings between these teams.

Pick: San Jose Sharks

Bettors' Best Friend (BBF): Tuesday's Wagering Tips

Lines To Watch

The Phillies opened as a -115 road favorite at San Francisco but are now listed at -120 at some books.

Who’s Hot

Philadelphia Phillies are 22-5 in their last 27 road games.

The under is 7-1 in the last eight Washington Capitals’ games.

Who’s Not

Nashville Predators have lost six of their last eight meetings with the Calgary Flames.

Minnesota Wild have lost eight of their last 10.

Key Stat

38.1 – Percentage of power plays the Minnesota Wild have converted on through four games, with eight of their 10 total goals coming with the man advantage.

Injury That Shouldn’t Be Overlooked

Juan Uribe (wrist) San Francisco Giants – Uribe was a late scratch from Sunday’s game and is officially listed as questionable after jamming his left wrist on a headfirst slide into second base on Saturay. He was replaced by Edgar Renteria. Uribe was 2-for-18 at the plate in the playoffs after belting 24 home runs in the regular season.

Game Of The Day

Philadelphia Phillies at San Francisco Giants

Notable Quotable

"Don't throw it down and in. The last three balls that he hit are in the same exact spot. Just bad pitches. I mean, throwing it right into his bat, pretty much. If you can make your pitches, you are going to do well. But if you miss down and in, that's pretty much where he's hitting them." – Roy Oswalt’s advice to Philadelphia’s Game 3 starter Cole Hamels about dealing with the red-hot Cody Ross. Ross has broken up a no-hitter with a home run in each of his last three games.

Notes And Tips

The Philadelphia Phillies aren’t going to change their batting routines at San Francisco’s AT&T Park even though they’re hitting just .199 and averaging 3.2 runs per game there since 2008. The Phillies are focusing on hitting line drives and ground balls in batting practice at San Francisco, just like they do at home, instead of aiming for the bleachers. A batting practice group of Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino hit exactly zero home runs in Monday’s BP session.

The Calgary Flames have already seen enough of Olli Jokinen on the top line with captain Jarome Iginla and Alex Tanguay. Jokinen, who had one assist and 17 shots on goal with the No. 1 unit and was brought back to Calgary specifically to play with Iginla, is being dropped in favor of Matt Stajan.

Minnesota Wild coach Todd Richards put his team through a nasty bag skate during Sunday’s workout to get them ready for Tuesday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks. Richards wasn’t please with the club’s 1-2-1 start and veteran center John Madden said that he’s never experienced a punishment skate like that in 15 years of pro hockey.

Hondo

Hondo treaded some water last night when he cashed with the Titans but paid with the Yanks to leave the deficit holding at 2,635 montefuscos -- and counting.

Tonight, if the Yanks are going with A.J., Mr. Aitch is going with the Rangers -- 10 units. Also, he will put 10 on the Giants to show that Cain-do spirit against the Phillies.

BEN BURNS (0-1 baseball,0-1 hockey,1-1 football yesterday)

Philly/SF Under

UNDER phillies/giants

me: Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Francisco Giants Game Time: 10/19/2010 4:15:00 PM Prediction: under Reason: I'm playing on the Phillies and Giants to finish UNDER the total. The first two games of this series both finished with seven runs. With the series shifting to San Francisco and with yet another pair of highly capable pitchers on the mound, I expect an even lower-scoring affair. Yes, both Cain and Hamels have had longer layoffs than normal, which can sometimes have a negative effect. However, in this case, I feel that both starters will be just fine. These guys would be 'aces' on a lot of staffs. Both were excellent in their first round start and since then, both have been watching all these other outstanding pitching performances. They'll both be anxious to get back out there and show what they're capable of. Hamels was absolutely dominant in his lone playoff start vs. the Reds. In that game, he tossed a complete-game 5-hit shutout. He recorded 9 K's and 0 walks, en route to earning a 2-0 victory. Hamels, the 2008 World Series MVP, was quoted as saying: "Postseason is where it's at. It's the ultimate time to really show what kind of player you are, what kind of pitcher you are. These are the types of games and types of moments when you set foot in spring training it's the ultimate goal for the whole team to go out and enjoy." For the season, Hamels had a 2.94 ERA, including a very solid 3.02 ERA (1.15 WHIP) on the road. In 104 innings on the road, he had 109 K's with only 30 walks. The UNDER was 11-6 in his road starts and 22-12 overall. Like Hamels, Matt Cain was very tough in this season's lone playoff appearance. In 6 2/3 innings, he limited the Braves to a single unearned run. Cain was also very stingy at home all season. In 12 starts here, he went 8-4 with a 2.75 ERA and 1.032 WHIP. Cain was quoted as saying: "You just feel comfortable pitching at home. Just try to relax and try to almost enjoy it and soak it all in, to try to take the nerves off a little bit." True, its a low O/U line. However, when considering that the Phillies have seen the UNDER go 15-5-2 the last 22 times that they played a game with an O/U line of seven or less, including 10-3-1 on the road, it starts to seem a lot more reasonable. Look for those stats to improve here, as this one proves lower-scoring than many will be expecting. *10

Tuesday's winner...
200-Unit ALCS Smart Play - NEW YORK YANKEES (must list Burnett as starter for the Yanks)

It’s time for the Yankees’ A.J. Burnett to start earning some of that big money they are paying him. I’m banking on him bringing his best stuff to the park tonight and scoring the big win for New York and drawing even in this ALCS.

Burnett (10-15, 5.26 ERA) had a brutal regular season but he can make all the fans forget about that tonight with a big start in Game 4. Burnett did see the Rangers three times this season and pitched very well in his home start on April 17, allowing no runs and six hits in seven innings of the 7-3 victory. Since joining the Yankees, Burnett has not allowed more than three runs to the Rangers in six outings.

Tommy Hunter (13-5, 3.75 ERA) is scheduled to pitch for the Rangers tonight. Four of his five losses were on the road. He faced the Rays in the ALDS and allowed three runs on six hits over four innings and fell 5-2. The Rangers have dropped four of his last six starts, but he did get a crack at the Yankees on Sept. 11 and he held the Bombers to two runs over five innings of a 7-6 victory. One bad note for Texas is that they are 3-7 when Hunter starts on the road against a winning team.

New York comes in on several positive streaks, including 8-3 in the playoffs, 61-22 at home against right-handers and 8-3 in home playoff games.

The Yankees were embarrassed by the Rangers and starter Cliff Lee on Monday night and you’ll see a much different Yankees’ team tonight. I expect them to make contact tonight against Hunter and send some balls out of the park. Lay the chalk and play the Yankees at home tonight.
